GOING TO CATALUNYA
Alternative
‘Going to Catalunya’ initially centered around Rob Keyzer’s journey to Spain, encapsulating the essence of his experiences, the people encountered, and the events that unfolded during this significant period. This multifaceted project encompasses paintings, photographs, narratives, and music.
In the realm of sound, Rob collaborated with his friend Frank Weyzig, who shares a profound connection with Spain, to compose and record a series of tracks resonating with the project’s overarching atmosphere.
Beyond its literal journey, ‘Going to Catalunya’ symbolizes love, companionship, and the quest for beauty and life’s meaning. Integral to this perspective is the presence of Marnix de Haas, a dear friend of Rob’s whose passing became an intrinsic part of the project. Through both visual representation and sound, Marnix’s essence shines vividly, honoring the remarkable person he was and will forever be.
Originally conceived as an accompaniment to the special edition art book by Lisa Keyzer, the music on this album possesses a standalone quality that warranted its release on CD and Vinyl. Each track resonates with one or more of Rob’s paintings created between late 2015 and early 2018.
Perhaps, in due course, you’ll encounter the project’s authenticity by visiting exhibitions or installations or by acquiring a copy of the unique art book.
